Patrick Mizumoto is a visual artist living in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Influenced by a life lived by the ocean and his own personal experiences as a half Japanese half Italian queer man. His multidisciplinary work predominantly includes figure paintings, carvings, abstraction and scenes from nature which include endemic Hawaiian flora and fauna. His pieces explore expressing themes of self-identity and the complex energy surrounding the pursuit of wholeness, both emotionally and physically. Themes of emotional resonance, invasive and native plant life, and personal connections to lineage are focused throughout his work. He hopes to capture moments of beauty both within our recognizable human experience as well as the indescribable abstract emotions experienced through inner conflict and peace.

His early education revolved around Atelier style teachings at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) and continued with years of self studying. His work has been exhibited across the USA notably in Hawai’i at the Bishop Museum, Hawai’i State Art Museum and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
