Patrick Mizumoto is a visual artist living in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Influenced by a life lived by the ocean and his own personal experiences as a half Japanese half Italian queer man. His work predominantly includes male figure paintings, abstraction, and scenes from nature. These emotive figures focus on expressing themes of self-identity and the complex energy surrounding the pursuit of wholeness, both emotionally and physically. He hopes to capture moments of beauty both within our recognizable human experience as well as the indescribable abstract emotions experienced through inner conflict and peace.
Patrick studied in a traditional atelier at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) where he was mentored by artist Sergio Sanchez. He learned to paint and draw from the teachings of the academy as well as from years of self studying the old masters and contemporary artists alike. His work has been exhibited across the U.S.A., notably in Hawai’i at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu Museum of Art School, and the Hawai’i State Art Museum.
